This year, the National Societies Forum will elect 7 National Societies Representatives to the UEG Meeting of Members.
BSG Hepatology Travelling Fellowship – EASL and Experience at a DGH Hepatology Unit
This fellowship aims to offer the opportunity for a junior trainee (IMT1, 2, 3 or ST4) who has yet to obtain an NTN, but has an interest in hepatology, to attend the EASL Congress in Amsterdam from 07-10 May 2025, to see the latest research and clinical updates in Hepatology.

Alcohol Health Alliance urges action on alcohol-related deaths
Alcohol-related harm continues to place significant pressure on the healthcare system, with nearly 1 million hospital admissions each year linked to alcohol, costing the NHS £4.91 billion annually. The AHA has called for policies such as minimum unit pricing and increased funding for alcohol treatment services to reduce harm and improve public health.
International Grant Report: Malawi Endoscopy training visit report
After arriving in Lilongwe, we visited KCH and met the local Endoscopy team including Mr Chipilimo and the two senior local trainees who had both undertaken <5 endoscopies previously but had been identified by senior clinicians for Foundation endoscopy training at the unit. We spoke with them regarding their current work, resources and requirements and donated endoscopic equipment from Glasgow.
International Grant: Malawi Hepatology Training Course Report
With the generous support of a grant from the British Society of Gastroenterology we organized a training conference: the Third Conference on Liver Disease in Malawi. We provided travel and accommodation for delegates from all over Malawi, ranging from Karonga in the far north to Chikwawa in the South

EASL'25 Annual Meeting Research Abstract Bursary
The BSG Research Committee is offering 3 travel bursaries for delegates who would find it financially difficult to attend EASL'25 to present their accepted abstract(s), available to trainees, nurses/AHPs and consultants in the first 2 years of their post.

Colorectal Cancer Surveillance in patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (ColCaS-IBD)
YaHGuT has launched this project which has two threads - one will be a procedural/patient data audit for the first 6 months of 2024 and the second will be an endoscopy lead questionnaire in the form of an easy - tick box Google form.
