The BSG's 9th annual National Introduction to Gastroenterology Day will be taking place in-person at the RCP London on Tuesday 19th November 2024. This event designed for those new to the Gastroenterology HST programme or those in IMY3 who are considering a career in the specialty. Our primary aim is to welcome you to the programme but also highlight the many and diverse opportunities available to you within the specialty and your future career.

The event will comprise a series of introductory talks from Gastroenterologists around the country with wide-ranging experience including sessions on sub-specialist topics and more practical aspects including how shape of training affects you, the specialty exam and flexible working.

There will also be a section on opportunities outside of the programme both within training and after completion of training. Finally it will provide an excellent opportunity to meet your future colleagues, network, ask questions and build the foundations of future working relationships.

It is a busy day but one that will hopefully reinforce what a fantastic specialty you have chosen to be part of.

• This event will take place fully face-to-face, and we regret that we are unable to offer hybrid/virtual attendance on this occasion.

• BSG member attendees only will have the cost of their ticket refunded within 1 week of the event.
• Cancellations less than one week before the event and no-shows will not be refunded.
• BSG trainee and undergraduate members can claim reasonable economy travel expenses after the event. Please email [email protected] for instructions on how to submit your expense claim detailing the event your claim is associated with. We regret we cannot reimburse accommodation expenses and expense claims submitted without receipts. Non-member expenses will not be reimbursed; only those with a valid BSG membership at least 1 month before the event can claim travel expenses.

Cancellation deadlines:

• Two weeks before the event – a full refund will be given
• One week before the event – a 50% refund will be given
• Less than one week before an event – no refund will be given
