We are hosting an introduction (taster day) to intestinal ultrasound for senior gastroenterology trainees. The majority of trainees have limited exposure to intestinal ultrasound and many will have never worked somewhere where they are performed. There is a growing interest in intestinal ultrasound and so there is a significant need for the development of training courses to meet this demand. 

This one-day course aims to give trainees an oversight of intestinal ultrasound, understand its strengths and weaknesses and its place in the management of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The faculty are a mixture of gastroenterologists who are experienced at intestinal ultrasound and radiologists. There will be around 24 senior trainees attending with an interest in IBD or gastrointestinal imaging. The course will involve lectures as well as hands-on time scanning healthy volunteers as well as patients on ultrasound machines and will take place in University College London Hospital Education Centre on Monday 12th May. 

The course aims to develop interest in ultrasound for gastroenterologists so attendees can then pursue avenues to get formal training in the future. We would plan for the course to be repeated on an annual basis.

This course is for senior gastroenterology trainees. We ask that you do not register for this course if you’re not a SpR Gastro Trainee.  
The attendance fee will be refunded to BSG members who attend. Non-members and no shows will not be refunded.
