Tell us about yourself
I am Dr Noriko Suzuki, a Consultant Interventional Endoscopist with a special interest in early colorectal cancer detection and minimally invasive, organ-preserving treatments using interventional colonoscopy.
Tell us about your move to the UK and your journey
I moved to the UK with my husband when he was invited to work here. St. Mark’s Hospital happened to be conveniently located near his workplace. Very lucky!
What challenges did you face in your transition and working as an international woman in gastroenterology?
One of the biggest challenges I faced was the language barrier and cultural differences. Expressing myself clearly was difficult at first, and I am still learning and growing in this process.
What advice would you give to international women in gastroenterology today?
Join me in interventional endoscopy – we need more women in this exciting field!
