What’s coming up for Nurses in 2025
Leigh Donnelly, BSG Nursing Committee Chair.
Greetings from your BSG Nurses’ Section. This month’s update will focus on Project 90, BSG LIVE’25 and upcoming BSG Events.
Project 90:
The BSG is gearing up to celebrate its 90th birthday in 2027! To mark this milestone, we want to honour both the profession and our valued members by offering enhanced membership support in the lead-up to the big day. In the lead-up to this celebration, BSG plans to enhance membership benefits, with the goal of reigniting members' passion for the profession and specialty. A key aspect of this project is the Nurse Education arm, which aims to empower and support the education and training of all healthcare workers involved in gastroenterology care, including nurses, healthcare support workers, and managers. This initiative spans various care settings such as wards, outpatient clinics, theatres, and critical care units. The project’s objective is to equip the workforce to deliver high-quality, patient-centred, and safe services. A BSG listening exercise revealed a demand for accredited, self-paced, interactive e-learning modules, which will be provided free of charge to all staff involved in gastroenterology care, addressing members' needs for accessible, flexible learning opportunities.
BSG LIVE’25:
Registration for BSG LIVE’25 opens soon! We will have many sessions dedicated to our nursing members including sessions on the on Human Factors in Endoscopy, Nutrition and Gut Health and Q&A sessions with the BSG nurses committee! As well as a packed programme, EndoVillage will be returning with more stations than ever, and there will be plenty of opportunities for networking, as well as a social event on the Wednesday
BSG nurse members working in any area of gastroenterology are invited to apply for a travel bursary of up to £500. The deadline for applications is 5pm on April 3rd. Find out more and apply.
