Masterclass: Anorexia Nervosa for the Gastroenterologist

The Gastroenterologist has a crucial role in supporting the care of patients with anorexia nervosa admitted to hospital with life threatening malnutrition – leading the safe introduction of nutrition support and excluding other causes of nutritional failure. This video will cover the main areas that a Gastroenterologist should be aware of in providing care for these patients.

Biographies

Dr Trevor Smith

Trevor is a Gastroenterologist in Southampton, where he specialises in clinical nutrition and intestinal failure. He was BAPEN President from 2018-2023. He has several leadership roles in the NHS, including Deputy Chief Medical Officer in Southampton.

Dr Francesca Moroni

Francesca is a Consultant Gastroenterologist in NHS Grampian since Jan 2021. She has a special interest in nutrition and neurogastroenterology. She is the current BSG Mentoring Lead, former BSG Deputy Web Editor (Web Education Team) and current Digest This! Webinar Chief Editor. She is also the BAPEN Scotland Chair.
