2025 BSG Membership Fee Increase
Membership fees increase from 1st January 2025
Dear Members,
After four years of freezing our membership fees, we are making a small increase to annual membership fees.
This change will take affect from 1st January 2025, but will only be implemented upon your membership renewal date.
If you would like to know more about the increase, including why the fee is increasing, who will be affected and when it will take place, please read our FAQs below.
We would like to acknowledge and thank you for being a member of the BSG. We also wish to thank all the members who have given their time to hold a role within the Society, or have contributed to our events, Web Education programmes and other workstreams, which has enabled us to deliver our charitable objectives, our world renowned gastroenterology and hepatology guidelines and offer a breadth of free or subsidised membership offerings.

Why are fees increasing?
We deliver a wide range of services, and this small increase will allow us to continue delivering high-quality services, support and resources for our members. By asking each member to contribute an extra few pounds each year, we can continue to build the BSG and be the voice of gastroenterology and hepatology in the UK.
We know that many of our members may be struggling with inflation and the increased cost of living, and this decision has not been taken lightly. This increase in membership contributions will enable us to continue providing the very best service to our growing membership, including:
- Opportunities to network, learn and share ideas with peers and those with common specialist interests regionally, nationally and internationally
- Access to the Web Education platform with articles, videos and top tips on all areas of the specialty
- Access to the latest translational and clinical research in gastroenterology and hepatology through free access to Gut, Frontline Gastroenterology and Open Gastroenterology journals, including a member-exclusive ‘Flipbook’ digital format
- Discounts of up to 30% on our annual programme of BSG educational events including the BSG Annual Meeting, Trainee events, subspecialty and research focused events as well as free member exclusive access to BSG webinars
- Discounts of up to 30% off BSG-endorsed events to maintain your professional development
- The latest news from the GI community with a weekly newsletter and regular email updates
- Professional development and learning resources
- Careers advice and guidance including exclusive member access to our mentoring platform
- and much more.
We’re always keen to hear from members who have suggestions for activities they would like the BSG to support. Please contact [email protected] and the office team will direct you to the most relevant committee to take forward.
Who will be affected by the membership fee increase?
The increase will affect the contributions of all members with the exception of undergraduate members, who will continue to receive free membership during their study.
