Call for UEG Lifetime Achievement Award 2025
As a UEG member society, the BSG has been asked to nominate deserving candidates for the esteemed UEG Lifetime Achievement Award. This prestigious recognition honours an individual with a career of at least 30 years, whose remarkable achievements have improved the lives of people in relation to digestive health and whose contributions, leadership, and influence have been pivotal to UEG and widely recognised within the broader gastroenterological and myUEG community.
The Lifetime Achievement Award will be formally presented at UEG Week Berlin 2025, October 4-7. The details of the award ceremony will be announced in due
course. The awardee will receive a commemorative plaque, a lifelong free registration to UEG Week and invitation to the UEG Night or similar gala events.
If you would like to propose a BSG member to be considered, please complete the below by 5pm on Friday 14th March.
Please provide the following details on your application form:
Submit a Short CV of the candidate (upload box) – (maximum of 2 A4 pages)
Write a concise description of how these contributions, whether they have been in research, leadership, or mentorship, have had a lasting impact on the gastrointestinal field and/or the community and/or UEG and demonstrate a lifetime commitment (publications supporting these contributions may be directly referenced) (max 1 A4 page)
A statement indicating the candidate’s H-index using Web of Science
Nominations will be considered by the BSG Council before being submitted to UEG. Those that have been selected for nomination will be contacted by the BSG by 4th April 2025.
The successful recipient will be selected by UEG Council in July, and the UEG Headquarters Management will contact the recipient thereafter.

Barbers’ Company Award for Trainees in Gastroenterology
The Barbers’ Company Award for Trainees in Gastroenterology was introduced in 2021, and has been established by the Barber’s Company in memory of Sir Francis Avery Jones, past Master of the Barbers’ Company and past President of the BSG.

The Dame Parveen Kumar Award for Education and Training (previously BSG Gold Trainer Award) is awarded annually to recognise the work of excellent trainers in developing the future of the gastroenterology and hepatology specialty.
